Pinarello’s flagship model, the “DOGMA F,” has officially unveiled the company’s latest generation of bicycles, the Campagnolo SUPER RECORD WIRELESS. This proud flagship model, introduced by Pinarello, underwent a comprehensive redesign in June of this year, resulting in enhanced performance.
The new DOGMA F, developed with the keyword “pursuit of perfection,” further refines its predecessor, which was already one of the industry’s top-performing race bikes. With this performance update, it has firmly established its status as the best race bike.
The DOGMA F model is characterized by meeting all performance requirements of high-level race bikes, such as aerodynamics, stiffness, weight, and comfort. Unlike other companies, DOGMA F’s performance and philosophy cater to the needs of various types of athletes, from climbers to sprinters.
In terms of raw materials, the new DOGMA F has been upgraded, thereby increasing its combat effectiveness. The previous model utilized third-generation high-strength T1100 carbon fiber, while the new DOGMA F achieves further performance enhancements by switching to third-generation high-modulus M40X carbon fiber.
M40X is a high-performance carbon fiber that has been tested on the X-Light lightweight version and Ineos Grenadiers team bicycles. It boasts exceptional tensile modulus, pushing the lateral stiffness performance of the frame to new levels. By using this new material, the frame set weight has been reduced by 120 grams.
Carbon fiber frames are composed of a carbon fiber mixture, typically featuring higher modulus structures in high-stress areas to increase stiffness. The new M40X carbon fiber is primarily located at the modified bottom bracket connection. Compared to the 85kg rider weight limit of the X-Light model, the new Dogma F frame has a weight limit of 120kg, representing a 41% increase in load-bearing capacity.
Furthermore, the bicycle’s aerodynamics have been improved. Utilizing knowledge gained from hour record bicycles, various components have been updated. At the front, which is most affected by air resistance, the head tube and down tube have been thinned. To achieve this, the front-end components and fork legs have been redesigned. Despite their slender profiles, they maintain the necessary stiffness while also contributing to weight reduction.
Pinarello uses Torayca carbon fiber in its bicycles, with Toray’s manufacturing process ensuring high control over carbon fiber performance, thereby producing reliable and predictable materials. Different models of Pinarello bicycles utilize different grades of carbon fiber, primarily including T1100, T900, T700, and T600.
T1100 Carbon Fiber: Before being replaced by the third-generation high-modulus M40X carbon fiber, T1100 was Pinarello’s top-end carbon fiber product, primarily designed to achieve the ultimate stiffness-to-weight ratio. Pinarello uses this highest-quality carbon fiber to create T1100 carbon fiber frames for its flagship Pinarello Dogma F series.
T900 Carbon Fiber: Another high-quality carbon fiber offered by Pinarello, with slightly lower hardness and weight compared to T1100. It is primarily used in Pinarello’s F series road bicycles, such as the F9 and F7.
T700 Carbon Fiber: Slightly less performant than T900 but still achieves a perfect balance between weight, stiffness, and cost. It is mainly used in mid-range models, such as the Pinarello F5.
T600 Carbon Fiber: The entry-level product in Pinarello’s carbon fiber series, heavier and less rigid but offering better comfort. It is used in the endurance road bicycle series, Pinarello X.
